SOUTH YORKS SCHOOLS ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

13th June 2017

The South Yorkshire Athletics Championships took place at the Keepmoat on a wet and windy Saturday, 10th June. 5 of our students were selected to represent Doncaster as mentioned last week. Unfortunately, Tyler White was unable to attend, but the other 4 students attended and competed extremely well as part of the Doncaster Team.

Luke Lyon Year 9 finished 4th in the Junior boys 100m final with a time of 12.4 secs

William Wood Year 7 finished 5th in the cricket ball throw with a distance of 35.27 metres and 8th in the long jump

Ender Elik Year 7 finished 7th in the long jump

Jake Bellwood Year 10 finished 4th in his heat in the 200m and did not make it to the final, as he was feeling quite unwell in the morning, but he wanted to stay to try and compete in the afternoon in the 400m. By 2 o’clock in the afternoon he was feeling a bit better and decided he would run. He ended up winning the 400m final to become the South Yorkshire Champion in a time of 58.7 secs.

The attached photos are Jake on the podium and being presented with his certificate by Peter Elliott, who some of the older staff may remember as a Great Britain 800m and 1500m runner.
