    From 1:30pm on Thursday 20th July 2017, Ash Hill Academy will be closed to students for the Summer Holidays. We wish all of our wonderful students, staff, and their families a restful and enjoyable summer break, and we look forward to seeing them return in September for the next academic year.

    Following recent news about poisonous Giant Hogweed, please find below some important information about this dangerous plant, along with its associated health and safety risks:

    Today, students across all year groups took part in assemblies featuring guest speakers from the British Transport Police - PCSO Gary Poulson & SPC Jake Everitt, organised by Mr Reynolds.

    After introductions to students, PCSO Gary Poulson asked if students had heard of the British Transport Police, or the London Bridge Train Station, to which only one or two replied positively.     This year our Sports Day will be held on Wednesday 19th July 2017. All students are required to attend in full PE Kit (not normal uniform), with the order of the day being:

    08:20am - 08:25am Arrive at the academy and directed to first session

    08:30am - 09:20am Session 1 - Carousel activities (students compete in Colleges and by Year group)

    09:20am - 10:05am Session 2 - Carousel activities

    10:05am - 10:15am Y7/8 Break and Y9/10 Form

    On Wednesday 19th July 2017, our current after school Enrichment Programme will close. We would like to thank all students and staff who have made this year's programme a success, and look forward to launching our new Enrichment Programme in the next academic year (2017-2018) which will be announced on this News feed and our Twitter feed.

    With effect from September 2017, the uniform supplier for all Delta Academies will be SPT Uniforms.

    As previously updated on our website, from September 2017 our incoming Year 7 students will receive a complimentary uniform bundle. Measurements for their uniform were taken on their transition day (Friday 30th June) and the bundles will be available for collection at a date to be confirmed within the school holidays.

    There is no expectation for existing students to purchase this uniform, however any new items

    All year groups will have assemblies on a rolling basis on Tuesday 18th July 2017, hosting guest speakers from the British Transport Police. The schedule is as follows:

    We have been informed that the school bus operator – Bright Bus - is intending to close at the end of this academic year (July 2017).

    Bright Bus currently provide commercial school services across South Yorkshire, with approximately 11,000 journeys each day.  Bright Bus have been a key player in the market since the late 1980s and have done a lot of work to build relationships with schools and parents, to encourage safe and direct travel for young people.     On the 1st and 2nd July 2017 one of our Year 8 students, Harvey Smith, represented Yorkshire at the Basketball England's under 13 boys regional development tournament in Manchester. This was supported by grant funding from the academy.

    This morning our Year 10 students took part in a workshop and received a presentation from Lenny (R. Lennon) from the Teenage Cancer Trust. After an initial introduction and supportive message about this sensitive issue, Lenny went on to inform the students about statistics, myths and facts surrounding cancer and especially cancer in young people.

    Our after school enrichment Craft Club have been busy making some fantasticly artistic products recently. Below are some examples of their work:








    The Craft Club meets every Wednesday afternoon during P6 Enrichment (2:30pm to 3:30pm) in the Bronte Study Room - interested students need to see Mrs Parsons before attending due to capacity.

    This morning our Year 8 and Year 9 students experienced a performance by the Leeds-based Pop/Rock band My Forever as part of the compulsory PSCHE curriculum. Band members Dave (lead vocals, guitar) and James (guitar) graciously delivered songs from their catalogue of amazing music, as well as affording students the opportunity to get photos, signed flyers and chat with them after the performance.

    During Period 3 on Friday 7th July 2017, Year 7 assembled in the Auditorium for a presentation given by guest speakers from South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue.

    The presentation was delivered by Community Fire Safety Officers Andy Hall and Charlie Fox, beginning with an introduction to the scenario and questions about student attendance at Crucial Crew workshops. The focus of the presentation was on Arson and Hoax Calls, which students had covered briefly at Crucial Crew, but were eager to share the knowledge abou

    Last night a host of staff, students and their families attended the July 2017 Celebration Evening. With barely an empty seat in the Auditorium, it was fantastic to see so many people supporting the occassion, which celebrated the successes and achievements of our students. Amongst the invited guests were Alumni speakers - one formerly of Hatfield High School, and one formerly of both Hatfield Visual Arts College and latterly Ash Hill Academy - who kindly offered to act as hosts for the Subject Awards.
