  • Y11 INFORMATION EVENING

    2nd November 2016

    Y11 students and their parents/carers were invited to an Information Evening on Tuesday 1st November. The evening began at 5.30pm with a light buffet, followed by a presentation at 6pm, to discuss key dates and deadlines throughout the year, hints and tips on how to revise for examinations and key information about English, Maths and Science. Students also received goody bags, containing supplies to aid them in their journeys to GCSE success.

  • Y11 PRAISE ASSEMBLY

    20th October 2016

    Our Year 11 students had their first ever Praise Assembly this morning, to recognise all their hard work and effort during this first half term. On entry to the assembly students were offered a choice of snacks, from bacon sandwiches to pizza slices, as well as juice drinks. Mrs Callaghan (Vice Principal) addressed the assembly, informing them of the reasons why they were going to be praised, before handing over to staff to present the various awards.

    Unfortunately the Craft Club enrichment session this Wednesday 19th Oct has had to be cancelled, due to a clash with an after-school staff meeting. The next Craft Club enrichment session will be on Wednesday 2nd November.

  • BUN SALE

    The students of Y11 held their first Bun Sale on Friday 14 October, in order to raise funds for their Graduation Ball next Summer. Exact figures are yet to be announced, but we would like to thank all those who bought buns for helping Y11 reach their goal. Further Bun Sales are planned, so keep an eye on the ‘Events’ section of the website, as well as Twitter for details.

    ManActCo inspire laughter and tears!

    As part of our drive to help students better understand some of the harder aspects of the English Literature syllabus, we have employed a visiting theatre group to perform set GCSE texts on three separate occasions at Ash Hill Academy.  ManActCo performed no less than 24 poems and excerpts from 3 separate Shakespeare plays within an hour, to start this process rolling on the morning of the 14th October.  They also lead a question and answer session for 30 minutes afterwar

    The Ash Hill Academy Basketball team travelled to Ridgewood School last night, putting on a fantastic display to win 46-14. Massive thanks to go the Ridgewood team as well as SchoolGames Doncaster, from all at Ash Hill Academy.

    Our after-school enrichment program begins today! Every afternoon when lessons finish at 2.30pm, students will be able to access subject-based curriculum support, or try their hands at some new creative activities. A range of over 60 sessions are on offer per week.

    Year 9/10s Win Away Game

    The Ash Hill Academy Year 9/10 team travelled to Campsmount Technology College this Wednesday afternoon, putting on a dazzling display to run out 7-0 winners.  Three goals from the prolific Robbie Rhodes, joined one each from Keith Hinds, Kai Hewson and Jack Smith.  However, the best moment of the game came within the final 10 minutes, when Ethan Eddleston, just on as a substitute, scored his first ever goal for the academy with a cultured left foot finish into the top corner of the

    Campsmount: 5 / Ash Hill: 6

    Ash Hill Academy put up a tremendous second half performance, to fight back from 3-1 down at half time to claim a win in their first fixture of the season. 

    The game started badly, with Campsmount going two goals up in the first few minutes.   • PIZZA CATCHUP

    3rd October 2016

    The Maths department hosted their first "Pizza Catchup" session on Thursday night. What a great start to the year, with around half the year group staying to work through examination questions under the guidance of specialist teachers. All students worked hard and I'm sure will go on to great success this Summer.

  • YEAR 7 PIE NIGHT

    Ash Hill Academy held its first Year 7 Pie & Peas night on 26th September. This event allowed Year 7 parents to meet key Year 7 staff, in order to discuss any issues that may have arisen during the transition period. The evening was a great success, with over 40 families attending. Our next Pie nights are on the 3rd and 10th of October.

    On Wednesday 21st September 2016, Miss Smith and Mrs Cairns along with Year 8 students went along to Grand Opera House, York to watch the amazing story of David Walliams' ‘Gangsta Granny’. Students from the creative writing, reading and debate club attended the much anticipated showing of Gangsta Granny, and absolutely loved watching the novel come to life.     Ash Hill’s transition formula is adding up and multiplying!

    The Ash Hill Academy Maths Faculty has led the way within the local area, providing some innovative specialist Maths teaching to students from six separate primary partner schools.  Monday afternoon Period 5 is now set aside to teach 33 gifted and talented Year 6 mathematicians with the potential to achieve level five or six in their forthcoming SATS examinations!

  • Childrens author Alan Gibbons visits Ash Hill

    3rd November 2015

    Alan Gibbons has written numerous books for teenage readers, won multiple literary awards and been shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal several times.  He is also the founder of the ‘Campaign for the Book,’ a prolific writer on reading and reviewing children’s fiction and the leading national champion of libraries.  All that said, he thoroughly entertained us all and really enjoyed working with our students and community, when he visited Ash Hill Academy on Friday 9th October.  We were absolutely mesmerised a
