    Following the very successful Delta Academies Trust Games on Thursday 2nd March 2017 at the EIS Sheffield, Miss Allott reports:

    “The students had a great time and competed with excellent team spirit throughout the day.

    Some notable performances were:

    - Chelsea Bisby Yr 8 - 1st in 200m and 3rd in the triple jump

    - Ender Elik Yr7 - 1st in the speed bounce

  • DONCASTER APPRENTICESHIP FAIR 2017

    All are welcome at the *FREE* Doncaster Apprenticeship Fair at Cast Theatre, Waterdale, between 2pm and 6pm on Wednesday 8th March 2017. There will be a range of providers and businesses available to talk to about job hunting, apprenticeships and work-based learning.

  • Y11 'AN INSPECTOR CALLS'

    2nd March 2017

    This morning our Year 11 students were treated to the return of theatre troupe ManACTCo, who performed their rendition of J.B. Priestley's "An Inspector Calls". This was as part of our drive to help students better understand some of the harder aspects of the English Literature syllabus.

    ManACTCo had previously performed to Year 11 students in October, with three Shakespeare plays in an hour, as well as in November performing the Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol".

  • POST 16 OPEN EVENING

    24th February 2017

    On Tuesday 28th February the academy will be hosting a Post 16 Open Evening, to allow students and their families to gain information about Further Education courses, including those on offer by C6 Collegiate Sixth Form. The event will begin at 5.30pm and close at 7.30pm.

    In attendance will also be representatives from Leeds Beckett University, to provide information, advice and guidance regarding Higher Education courses. We look forward to seeing you there.

  • HALF TERM Y11 INTERVENTION

    17th February 2017

    During the February half term break there are a series of Intervention Sessions for Year 11 students. These sessions are designed to maximise the opportunities for exam success, so are crucial for students who may need that little extra support to achieve their target grades.

    PLEASE NOTE – All students must sign in at Student Reception on arrival and sign out when they leave.

    Intervention sessions will be as follows:

    MON 20th – 9 am to 3 pm

    Design Technology – AL3 and AL4 – Mr Ramage and Mr Blackett

  • ASH HILL ALUMNUS BOXING

    17th February 2017

    An Ash Hill Academy alumnus has recently achieved boxing success whilst studying at Leeds Beckett University. Former Ash Hill student Jake Goodwin, as part of the Leeds Beckett University boxing team, took a gold in the 69-75kg open class category in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Boxing rankings.

    Jake’s success helped the team to reach first place in the BUCS competition, showing that sporting prowess can be achieved alongside academic study. We wish Jake and his fellow team members well

  • YOUTH COUNCIL ELECTIONS

    Throughout today students from all year groups are taking part in the Doncaster Youth Council elections. The vote is a way for young people to put into practice the knowledge they have gained of the democratic system, by electing candidates from their own school, who will then represent them at the local Youth Council meetings. The Youth Councillors will take the views and opinions from their area’s young people, and present them to local authority decision makers, who will in turn use that information to s

  • STUDENTS VISIT OXBRIDGE

    On Saturday 11th February, 8 students from Ash Hill Academy visited Cambridge University. When students arrived they received a presentation that focused on the university application process and an overview of the different courses available at Oxbridge. Students had the opportunity to explore the university and Cambridge city centre.   • OXBRIDGE PARENTS EVENING

    The Universities of Oxford and Cambridge are delighted to be hosting a parents information evening for parents and guardians who want to learn more about how to support students thinking of applying to these or other top universities. The event will be delivered by Schools Liaison Officers from Homerton and Mansfield Colleges. All events are free of charge.

  • ALL YEARS PARENTS EVENING

    10th February 2017

    The academy will be holding an All Years Parents’ Evening on Tuesday 14th February 2017, starting at 3.00pm. This will offer both students and their families a chance to check on progress made so far this term, as well as discuss next steps for the coming term. Year 11 students in particular will benefit from attending this evening, as they can discuss revision strategies and exam practice with their subject teachers.

  • ASSEMBLIES W/C 6th FEB

    6th February 2017

    This week’s assemblies are all focusing on the topic of E-Safety, delivered by the academy’s E-Safety Lead Mr. Reynolds (KS3/4). Mr Blackett will lead for KS5. All KS3 ICT lessons will discuss and expand on the topic, outlining how images posted to the internet and social media could be used against you.

    All of the assemblies will link to Safer Internet Day, which is on Tuesday 7th February.

  • KS4 MOCK EXAMS

    18th January 2017

    The KS4 Mock Exam series will begin week commencing Monday 23rd January. Students will meet at 8.25 (morning exams) or 12.30 (afternoon exam) in the Auditorium. Any student arriving late to an exam, must wait at student reception to be escorted into the exam room by either Mrs Welch or Mrs Bromilow.

  • Y8 OPTIONS EVENING

    4th January 2017

    The academy will be holding a Year 8 Options Evening at 6pm on Tuesday 10th January. All parents and carers of Year 8 students are encouraged to attend, along with Year 8 students, to gain a better insight into the Options process. There be plenty of opportunity to speak with subject teachers about each course on offer next academic year, as well as chances to speak with careers advisors, and representatives from Leeds University about future career options.

    BrightBus Service – January 2017

    BrightBus, the company that operates the school service that our students access, have informed us that as from January 2017 their services are being renumbered. The morning service has been renumbered to 555 for Ash Hill students. The afternoon services, 556 and 555 will be combined, and also renumbered to 555 for Ash Hill students.

    Below are the timings for the services – PLEASE NOTE the bus will stop at all stops along the route, if required.

    After a recent visit to Sheffield Hallam University, we were very happy to receive a message of thanks from their Pre 16 Engagement Coordinator, Mr J Wilmshurst.
