Our Year 7 Ambition students recently had the exciting opportunity to attend a Science and Space Day hosted by Amazelab, where they engaged in a range of hands-on STEM activities designed to ignite curiosity and develop key scientific skills.
Throughout the day, students were immersed in interactive workshops that made complex scientific concepts both accessible and enjoyable. They constructed marshmallow constellations, helping them learn about star formations in a creative and memorable way. They also explored chromatography by creating colourful planetary designs—investigating chemical separation techniques through practical experimentation. One of the highlights of the day was designing their very own spacesuits, encouraging teamwork, innovation, and a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by astronauts in space.
This experience forms part of our wider commitment to personal development and raising aspirations, particularly through the Ambition programme, which aims to stretch and challenge students while broadening their horizons. Events like this not only enhance cultural capital but also help students see the real-world applications of their learning, sparking interest in future careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
By making learning engaging, relevant, and inspirational, we continue to equip our students with the confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills they need to succeed both in school and beyond.
