A huge well done to Katy Louise F in Year 7, who took the lead in her EPC (Ethics, Philosophy & Citizenship) lesson this week by teaching her peers some British Sign Language (BSL)!

As part of Sign Language Week, Katy’s initiative and confidence shone through as she introduced classmates to a range of useful signs, showing just how powerful student voice and inclusive learning can be. Her passion for promoting communication that reaches everyone made a meaningful impact, and her classmates were fully engaged in learning something new and important.

This moment reflects the values we champion at Ash Hill: respect, empathy, and empowerment. Katy’s willingness to share her knowledge helps to foster a more inclusive and understanding school community where every student can feel seen, heard, and valued.
